Great time working on the bike today

What is so relaxing about taking things apart?

It was a Saturday spent with tools and tunes. Reminds me of my days as a teenager working on my bicycle in the garage with a Rush cassette on the boom-box.

What started as the first time for me changing the oil and filter and cleaning the air filter turned into a few other things. I noticed the front wheel didn't exactly spin smoothly so I decided to see where it was hanging up. I thought maybe it was dragging on the brake pads. I cleaned up the spacers and seals on the wheel which seemed to do the trick.

I can't find the bolt I'm supposed to loosen to ensure I have oil pressure (oil check bolt) so I hope everything is fine. Might have to go to the moto shop and see if they can show me if they have a Yamaha on the floor.

I'll elaborate more later regarding the Yamaha

My first time in the heart of New York City, Brooklyn to be exact, I was shown around by my best friend Kelsey and her son Rafael. Rafa, one was cool cat. After bonding with Rafa at the playground in Prospect Park, later in the day I believe I averted a possible disaster when I found him walking thru the living room with a packaged dried hot pepper. He probably thought it was some candy. Noone seemed to find the importance in what I had done. I'm not sure if I could ever relax if I were a dad.

One of the athletes, Trista, took a cool photo of me working while in Clearwater Beach, FL for the 70.3 World Championships.

Okay a few things about the motorcycle. Yes, I own a motorcycle now. Yes, I am kind of nervous about its operation and don't want to injure myself. Yes, I am excited to work on it (Its got two wheels and a chain and brakes with nuts and bolts that hold it together so it's practically like a bicycle. It just happens to have stuff like an engine and various electronic doo-dads. So What!)

These pictures of Gannett Peak have been kicking around on my computer the last month or so. I've been reminiscing about climbing this mountain (jeeze, 1990?) after getting re-acquanted with some of the folks who I climbed it with. Keri told me a plane went missing in this area of the Wind River Mountain Range in Wyoming and it peaked my interest to find some photos of the mountain.
